We had our suspicions, but it was not definite until keepers arrived to work on March 9 to find Olive Oil, our three-year-old olive baboon, holding her newborn baby girl. The father, six-year-old Mansino, was standing by her side.
With Olive Oil’s pregnancy confirmed, we were pretty confident we had two more births ahead of us. On March 18, Sabina gave birth to a healthy baby boy and last but not least, on the 30th, another little boy was born to Peperella. Mansino is the proud father of all three babies. Each baby was around 2 lbs. at birth. The first-time moms have adjusted well to their new responsibilities. The biggest issue we have had is the overbearing “grandmothers” who want to help out the new moms a little too much!

The three babies are now around 2 months old. They are starting to explore their surroundings and have even experimented with eating solid food. The baby girl is learning to ride on her mother’s back, though the two boys have not mastered that yet. The babies enjoy playing together; keepers have even watched them take turns jumping from log to log in their exhibit. It is very exciting for the keepers to watch these babies reach their different milestones!
